Police Chief Swearing-in Ceremony Wednesday at Town Hall

Russell Jenkins has been promoted from Deputy Chief to Chief by Mayor Joseph Sullivan. The Braintree Town Council votes on confirmation Tuesday evening.

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan has announced that Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins will be sworn in as Braintree’s 9th Chief of Police during a ceremony to be held at 5 p.m. in the Cahill Auditorium of Braintree’ Town Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Deputy Chief Jenkins was appointed Chief by Sullivan on October 10th. He is a 29-year veteran of the Braintree Police Department having served the last eight years as Deputy Chief.

From 1987 until 2004 he served as a Lieutenant, first in the Patrol Bureau until 1997 when he moved to the Detective Bureau. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and has a certificate in Public Safety Leadership and Management from Suffolk University. In 2001 he attended Session 207 of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Jenkins is a life-long Braintree resident.

Wednesday’s ceremony will include an Honor Guard of the Braintree Police Department.
