October Braintree Health Reports

There were 32 health inspections in Braintree in October, ranging from restaurants to social service centers to the Braintree Haunted House.

During the month of October, the Braintree Department of Municipal Licenses and Inspections conducted 32 inspections of establishments in town that serve food. The following is a sampling of violations from those reports.

Marybeth McGrath, director of Department of Municipal Licenses and Inspections, said inspectors are encourages to denote positives at their inspections. The reports below only include "critical" violations. 

The reports are as written by Braintree health inspectors and include the date on which the violations were resolved.

Asiana Hibachi

462 Quincy Ave. Inspected Oct. 1.

The manager called a plumber after a previous inspection showed that the dishwasher was draining directly onto the floor. Also, some product was stored at six inches or lower and the walk-in refrigerator needed a thermometer. 

Simply Good Foods

60 Columbian Rd., at Lottery headquarters. Follow-up to Sept. 10 inspection.

Provided sanitizing containers for wiping clothes and repaired leak that had water collecting on the floor.

Joe's American Bar & Grill

South Shore Plaza. Inspected Oct. 1. 

The fridge temperature was high, at 48 degrees, and a thermometer was needed for the salad pantry. Fixed by Oct. 2 follow-up.

Murray's Deli

2 Elm St. Inspected Oct. 11.

The front case was at a high temperature, at 49 degrees. Product was put on ice. It was a recurring issue and the owner was told to contact a repair person and also replace the unit within three months, by the next inspection. Also, meatballs were at 75 degrees and tomato bisque at 80 degrees. The regulations are to cook to at least 165 degrees and hold at 140 degrees.

El Sarape

5 Commercial St. Inspected Oct. 2.

The fridge was recorded at 51 degrees – contact repair company and remove items. Also provide signage for ladies room, a chlorine test and keep ice scoop in ice or on a tether. Inspector also saw three cans of RAID. They were removed, as only licensed pest control operations can perform that work.
