Late Trash Fee Payers Can Pick up Automated Waste Barrels

Automated waste pickup in Braintree began Monday, Sept. 30.

The town has made special arrangements for residents who were late in paying their annual trash fee to pick up the barrels required as part of Braintree's new automated waste program.

Residents who paid the $160 fee ($105 for seniors) after Sept. 4, 2013 may pick up the carts at the Recycling Center, Ivory Street Transfer Station only on Saturday, Oct. 5 or Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a notice posted on the town website.

They should bring in a paid reciept or cancelled check to the attendant who will assist in loading the carts.

Monday, Oct. 7 marks the first day that special dumpsters will be set up at the Ivory Street transfer station for disposal of old waste barrels. Residents are also encouraged to recycle them into yard waste receptacles.

Residents can drop-off their barrels Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of November.

Braintree residents who have not paid this year's trash fee or have yet to receive barrels for the town's new automated pickup system will still have their waste picked up for the first two weeks, Town Councilor Paul "Dan" Clifford announced earlier this week.
