JFK Remembered at Braintree Town Hall

Friday marked the 50th anniversary of the 35th President's assassination.

At Braintree Town Hall, Mayor Joseph Sullivan has displayed a number of items to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

On Nov. 22, 1963, Kennedy was riding in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Dallas with his wife Jackie and the governor of Texas and his wife when shots rang out, killing the 35th President of the United States and wounding Gov. John Connally.

In the lobby of Town Hall, town officials have displayed a painting of President Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy that was painted by long-time Braintree resident Daniel Winters.

The painting will remain in the lobby throughout the weekend as well as Monday, which is the anniversary of the president’s funeral, according to the mayor's office.

In addition, a silk flower bouquet was planted beneath the sign that dedicates the roadway in front of Town Hall as “John F. Kennedy Memorial Drive.”
