WalletHub, a personal finance social media network, recently followed up its analysis of 2014’s Best & Worst Cities for Families with an in-depth look at the Safest States to Live In and ranked Massachusetts as the number one safest state in the US.
However, while the state is clearly doing well in some safety measures, particularly financial and workplace safety, its rankings in other categories are alarming. Massachusetts ranked fourth in murder and non-negligent manslaughter per capita, and ninth in sex offenders per capita.
Other rankings included safety conditions in Massachusetts such as:
39th – Public Hospital Rankings
41st – Assault per Capita
8th – Percentage of People Who Spend More Than They Make
4th – Annual Consumer Savings Account Averages
12th – Number of Climate Disasters (over 1 billion in damage)
3rd- Percentage of People with a Rainy Day Fund
3rd - Lowest Bullying Incidents Rate
