Business Professor Seeking Write-in Votes for School Committee

There is one School Committee seat in the Nov. 5 election without a nominated candidate.

George Kokoros, a lifelong Braintree resident and 1977 graduate of Braintree High School, has launched a write-in campaign for the open, four-year School Committee seat in the November election.

Kokoros is the President of College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board at Suffolk University and an adjunct professor of Strategy & International Business there. He graduated cum laude with his Bachelor of Arts from Suffolk University.

Kokoros and his wife Linda have five children, ages 12 to 30, who attended or currently attend Braintree schools.

He is one of several residents who have expressed interest in running a write-in campaign for the empty, four-year seat on the School Committee ballot. There are three open seats and only two nominated candidates, incumbent David Ringius, Jr. and Cyril Chafe.

Kokoros is a past Braintree Town Meeting Member and former chairman of the Student Representatives on the School Committee. He is the brother of Town Council President Charles Kokoros.

Kokoros will host a campaign rally this Sunday, Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Maria’s Restaurant in Braintree.
