With Annual Renewals, a Breakdown of Braintree's Liquor Licenses

The Board of License Commissioners on Tuesday afternoon renewed by unanimous vote all of the town's various types of alcohol licenses held by businesses in Braintree, except for , which was tabled until later this month because the company owes the town $117 in back taxes or fees.

Many of the establishments were lacking proper signage about alcohol responsibility, as required by local and state law, and will be receiving letters from the licensing coordinator. Other issues, as presented to the board by police officer Jack Twohig, included discrepancies in amusement device amounts and problems with fights and over-intoxication.

If an establishment has had a potential liquor law violation in the past year but has not already been in front of the board about it, they may still face a hearing even if their license was renewed, chair Joe Powers said.
