BELD Commissioner Regan Meets with Senators Markey, Warren

Markey was elected earlier this year to the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by Secretary of State John Kerry.

While in Washington last week as a member of the Policy Makers Council, Braintree Light Commissioner Jim Regan had an opportunity to meet with the states newest U.S. Senator Ed  Markey.

Chairman Regan met as well with Senator Elizabeth Warren to discuss tax-exempt financing of municipal bonds, cyber security, gas pipe transmission for the northeast, as well as a number of other issues that effect Public Power on a national level.

"Having the opportunity to talk to  people at this level, and in depth on many of these issues facing our nation is quite rewarding in its self," Regan said, "as well as developing many new relations here that will help me be more effective serving the Northeast Region."

The Policy Makers Council that Regan serves on is made up of locally-elected and appointed officials from public power communities across the country. Its mission is to assist APPA in moving legislation forward that is important to the public power electric utilities nationwide.

Chairman Regan was appointed to the council early this year. The region that Commissioner Regan represent is the Northeast from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, to New York, and all of the New England states.
