All Braintree Liquor Licenses Renewed for 2014

30 restaurants hold all-alcohol licenses in Braintree. There are other types as well.

The Board of License Commissioners Wednesday approved the renewal of every alcohol license held by restaurants and other establishments in Braintree.

The 4-0 vote, with Police Chief Russell Jenkins absent, was part of the board's annual renewal process. Fifty-five establishments, ranging from full-service restaurants to package stores, hold alcohol licenses in Braintree.

Licensing Officer Lt. John Twohig reported minor issues with several of the establishments in an email to the board. They ranged from a restaurant and hotel replacing their managers of record without informing the board to disturbances between employees or customers investigated by police.

An assault and battery arrest at Granite Grill on Nov. 27, for example, remains under investigation. As does a battery arrest at the Braintree Brew House early the morning of Thanksgiving.

Twohig also noted that Wasabi, a conveyor belt sushi restaurant at the South Shore Plaza, notified Simon Malls it was leaving and departed the Plaza completely within two weeks without informing Braintree officials.

There are 38 all-alcohol licenses available to Braintree. One is for an innholder, 30 for restaurants and six for clubs. One of those license is currently available. The town also has eight special licenses available based on restaurant size.

Braintree has eight restaurant wine and malt licenses (two available), eight all-alcohol package good store licenses (one available), eight wine and malt package good store licenses (five available), and two veterans organizations with licenses (no cap).
