Wrong Way Driver Faces OUI Charges

Ambulance drivers said she was "coming at them" on the rotary.

An Abington woman faces OUI charges after police say she drove the wrong way on the Union Street Rotary in Braintree. 

Melissa J. Lewis, 37, of Abington was arrested on Saturday, May 24, shortly after 9:30 p.m.  

Officers responded when crew members from Fallon Ambulance said a driver was headed the wrong way around the rotary. The ambulance drivers turned on the emergency lights, which caused the driver to pull to the side of the road.

When police got there, they believed Lewis was intoxicated after talking with her. Braintree Police placed her under arrest and she was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation.
