A Weymouth woman is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident, drinking and driving, and possessing pepper spray without a license.
Katherine B. Gorham, 46, of Weymouth, was arrested shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 18, after officers were called to the scene of a hit and run motor vehicle crash on Commercial Street near the 7-11 store, said police.
The victims told officers that Gorham had pulled into the 7-11 parking lot and struck their vehicle while parking and then went into the store. Gorham, according to police, left the store and got back in her vehicle as the victim tried to talk with her.
Police said Gorham then backed out of the parking space and struck the victims' vehicle again, hitting the wrist of one of the victims with her rear view mirror. Gorham then began driving forward striking the victims wrist with the rear view mirror of her vehicle.
Police said Gorham appeared to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury. A can of “pepper spray” was found in her property for which she was not licensed to carry, said police. Gorham was additionally charged with being in possession of a chemical propellant without an FID card.
