Weymouth Men Arrested in North Braintree for Heroin

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two Weymouth men were arrested Tuesday morning after Braintree police allegedly saw them deal heroin in a parking lot in North Braintree Square.

Edward D. Chamberlain, 51, and Ted K. Chamberlain, 46, were both charged with possession of heroin once searches turned up small amounts of the drugs on them, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Detective Robert Joseph was watching the lots in the square Tuesday when he saw Ted Chamberlain pull into a parking lot and sit in his vehicle. A short time later, a second vehicle, operated by Edward Chamberlain and occupied by two
women pulled up alongside Ted Chamberlain, Jenkins said.

The men exchanged something and drove off separately. With help from Weymouth detectives, both men were stopped and were found with small amounts of heroin.

Edward Chamberlain failed to stop for police at first, though, and led police on a brief chase. He was additionally charged with failure to stop for a police officer and operating to endanger.

Both men were also charged with conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act.
