Police are investigating a second home break-in on Pearl Street in the past month, focusing on a vacant house where costume jewelry was taken on Saturday.
The homeowner's son told police that she passed away two weeks ago and that on the morning of Sept. 15 he found the break-in while checking the house, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.
A side door was likely used for entry.
On Aug. 27, another Pearl Street home was broken into and jewelry was taken. In that incident, the homeowner told police that an Asian man with missing front teeth was in a cream-colored mini-van blocking the driveway when she came home.
