Third Suspect Arrested in Armed Robbery Behind Flaherty School

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The third person police sought in connection with an armed robbery behind Flaherty Elementary School last Sunday night has been arrested and charged with several crimes.

Braintree detectives identified and arrested Viet Van Nguyen, 27 of Randolph, at his workplace in Dorchester on Tuesday afternoon, Police Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

He was charged with the same crimes as his two alleged accomplices, which included armed robbery while masked, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.

Nguyen, Vanessa A. Glover, 20 of Quincy, and Casey M. Millis, 17 of Braintree, allegedly robbed a 23-year-old Rockland man in the softball fields behind Flaherty Sunday night after he agreed to meet a woman there he met online.

Jenkins said in a statement earlier this week that Millis met the victim behind the school and two others wearing bandanas approached him from behind.

"The man was carrying a pipe and the woman was carrying a handgun that
she pointed at the victim’s chest," Jenkins said. "The couple demanded money from the victim and a struggle ensued, during which time he was struck in the back of the head with the pipe."
