State Police and the are reconstructing the scene of an accident to find out what happened when a teenage driver struck an unoccupied, parked car in Braintree last Friday, sending the driver and her passenger to the hospital.

Emergency personnel arrived at the accident scene at about 5:30 a.m. on May 18 to find both the driver, an 18-year-old Dorchester woman, and her passenger, a 17-year-old Hanover man, unconscious and unresponsive, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement on Monday.

The teens were extricated from the Honda Accord they were riding in by Braintree fire and EMS personnel. The driver was taken first to South Shore Hospital and then to Brigham and Women's, where she was in serious condition on Monday. The Hanover man suffered less serious injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center.

The accident happened on Blanchard Boulevard, Jenkin said. Apparently the 18-year-old drove the Accord into an unoccupied Ford Explorer, causing major damage to the Accord's driver's side and moderate, front-end damage on the driver's side of the Explorer. Both vehicles were towed.
