Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Dispute at Braintree Village Turns Violent

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 23-year-old Braintree man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another man during a dispute on Tuesday at the Braintree Village apartment complex.

The suspect and a 36-year-old Braintree man were reportedly fighting shortly after noon over a video game console when Lemar M. Lugo allegedly stabbed the victim, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Injuries to the victim's left hand were non-life threatening, Jenkins said, and he was transported to Quincy Medical Center.

Lugo was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after police found two knives, one with blood stains, in the truck that Lugo was sitting in during the incident. Witnesses also said that Lugo was sitting in the passenger seat and stabbed the victim when he reached through the open window.

The victim was "less than cooperative" at the hospital and said things that conflicted with witness statements, Jenkins said.

“This was not a random act between strangers,” Jenkins said, “but an assault by one individual having a dispute with a person well known to him.”

Also with Lugo was Brian K. Quinn, 32, of Quincy. Police found two Suboxone pills on him, Jenkins said, and Quinn was arrested and charged with possession of Suboxone.
