Sheriff Urges Residents to Sign up for Emergency Medical Program

The Yellow Dot program is a free-of-charge safety program aimed at protecting senior citizens.

Norfolk County Sheriff Michael Bellotti is urging residents to sign up for the "Yellow Dot" program that allows responders to know immediately that a standardized medical information form is in a motorists' glove box, providing them details that could help save the person's life.

The national program, featuring a yellow sticker on the back window of someone's car, is spreading throughout the county. Braintree was the 19th town to sign-up earlier this year

“We urge drivers of all ages to sign up for this safe and effective program,” Bellotti said in a statement this week. “With winter underway, unsafe road conditions pose a serious threat to motorists, and this program can ensure protection for anyone involved in an automobile accident.”

Since its inception in Norfolk County in 2011, Sheriff Bellotti’s Yellow Dot program has helped protect nearly 1,200 participants on the road in the 25 communities in which it operates, according to the sheriff's office.
