Man Shot Near Cross and Henry St. Monday

Police are emphasizing the attack was “not a random incident” in a neighborhood already struck by a drive-by shooting last August. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A Monday night shooting near Cross and Henry St. remains under investigation Tuesday, with police emphasizing the attack was “not a random incident” in a neighborhood already struck by a drive-by shooting last August.

Neighbors reported hearing 4-5 shots – with one noting an audible scream – around 9:30 p.m. Monday, despite the ongoing effects of Hurricane Sandy.

The victim left the scene but was later found at his home with a gunshot wound to the leg. Though he was hospitalized, the injuries were not considered life threatening, Lt. Det. Marc Gatcomb wrote Tuesday morning.

“The victim, suspect, and witness were associates,” he wrote. “...This incident is not related to any crime related matters in and around the Cross St area.”

More information on the circumstances is expected later Tuesday morning.

I have never seen a basis for crime being covered up in the city. The city maintains an active crime map with every police call requiring a report on it.

Best place to raise your family. Remember that? You don't get titles like that without cooking the books in my opinion.

Thought there was supposed to be more information on Tuesday sometime, it's been almost a week and nothing new.

J we ran an update from the city on this a couple of days later. There have been no developments to my knowledge. Perhaps you know differently?
