Prison Time for Man Dealing Heroin, Cocaine Out of Braintree Home

The man admitted to dealing drugs out of his Allen Street home.

A 43-year-old Braintree man arrested for dealing drugs last summer at a gas station across from the South Shore Plaza was sentenced last week to four to six years in state prison.

Braintree police, with help from DEA and FBI Task Force agents, arrested Michael Wilkerson on Aug. 21, 2012 after he met up with someone he believed to be a drug buyer. Officers found five bags of powdered cocaine, three bags of crack cocaine and nine bags of heroin packaged for sale in his vehicle's cup holder.

“Local and federal officers orchestrated three controlled purchases of narcotics from Mr. Wilkerson, then used that evidence to secure a search warrant," Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said in a statement.

“Assistant Norfolk District Attorney Adam Lally recommended a 5 to 7 year State Prison sentence to Judge Robert Cosgrove after Wilkerson admitted to everything in court on August 28,” Morrissey said. “Defense asked for a 3 ½ year term. Braintree police did good work with their federal partners here.”

Wilkerson had previously been convicted in 2000 Boston Federal Court for conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act and had three previous drug distribution convictions in Dorchester District Court dating back to 1988.
