In Braintree, a 21-year-old local man, who Boston police say fired at them in South Boston earlier in the week, was subsequently held in lieu of $2 million bail.

A 32-year-old Braintree man who was a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service was sentenced this week to four years in federal prison for stealing credit cards from a mail-sorting facility while on the job, and then using the credit cards to commit fraud.

Norfolk County District Attorney Michael said he lost consciousness because of fatigue, dehydration and extreme temperatures just before being involved in a car crash Tuesday evening on Centre Street in Milton.
