Police: Drunk Driver Smashes Stone Wall in Braintree

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 25-year-old Randolph driver was arrested last week after crashing into a stone wall off Liberty Street.

Braintree police charged Dana Schillberg with operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to keep within marked lines after Schillberg registered a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

A homeowner near the wall on Forest Street reported a loud bang but no screeching tires.

"There were no skid marks on the street and police theorize that Schillberg was traveling north on Liberty Street before veering off to the right, over a small traffic island and crashing into the stonewall.  The wall sustained significant damage," Jenkins said.

Schillberg did not appear to be injured but was unable to perform sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.
