Monday Morning Fire Dislocates Braintree Family

The fire early Monday morning displaced a Braintree family.

A two-alarm fire ripped through a Pearl Street home just after midnight Monday morning, causing heavy damage and forcing three Braintree residents to seek shelter with family.

The Ford family – John, Peg and their daughter – stayed with Peg Ford's brother after being displaced by the fire, which caused $300,000 in combined structural and property damage, Lt. Eddie Bulger said.

A Braintree firefighter suffered minor injures fighting the blaze when he fell on ice that had formed in the bitter cold, Bulger said. The firefighter was released from the hospital early Monday. The DPW sanded the entire area afterward.

No one else was injured.

The fire was called in just after midnight and the scene was cleared by 2:41 a.m. It does not appear suspicious, but the cause is under investigation, Bulger said.
