Jewelry Stolen From Two Homes on Same Day This Week

The following info was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Homes on Cherry Street and Hoover Avenue were broken into on Wednesday and various items were taken, including cash and jewelry.

The homeowner on Hoover Avenue told Braintree police that she was in the backyard at about 1 p.m. on Sept. 19 and had left the front door unlocked when her son came home a little while later and found the door open, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

"Upon checking the house the homeowner discovered her purse missing, along with money left for the paperboy and the top drawer to her jewelry box," Jenkins said.

Sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. on the same day, someone broke into the Cherry Street home, likely by way of the back door and then pushing in an air conditioner, Jenkins said.

Jewelry, including a gold pin with Jade in it, was taken.
