Firefighters Respond to Heroin Overdose at Braintree Restaurant

Three Braintree firefighters were commended by the chief for their actions Sunday.

Braintree Fire Chief James O'Brien has commended three of his firefighters for their work Sunday helping to save the life of a woman who overdosed on heroin at T.G.I Friday's.

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, the Engine 4 Crew, led by Lt. Robert Pistorino and consisting of firefighters Brian Connors and John Gallagher, responded to a report of an overdose in the bathroom of the Forbes Road restaurant.

The woman was found unconscious and unresponsive on the floor, O'Brien said in a commendation letter he sent to Mayor Joseph Sullivan on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

"The Crew of Engine 4 immediately began rescue operations by inserting a breathing tube and administering oxygen, restoring the victim's vital signs," O'Brien said. "Fallon Ambulance arrived shortly after and gave the victim Narcan to further stabilize her."

The woman was brought to South Shore Hospital, where she remains in recovery.

"I am confident the swift actions of the Engine 4 Crew saved this woman's life and gave her a second chance," O'Brien said.

"I want to commend Lt. Robert Pistorino Firefighter Brian Connors and Firefighter John Gallagher for their heroic actions and consumate professionalism."
