Erratic Driving, Intoxication Allegedly Results in Single-Car Accident

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 27-year-old Braintree man was arrested earlier this week after allegedly crashing his vehicle while driving intoxicated.

Steven Fernandes drove his BMW 528i partially on the island at Washington and Common Streets early Monday morning, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Tire marks led officers to believe that he had jumped another island before coming to rest. Officers also observed signs of intoxication, Jenkins said, and had Fernandes perform sobriety tests.
