Drunken Driver Found Asleep Behind Wheel in Braintree

A Milton woman was arrested Saturday morning on John Mahar Highway.

A Milton woman was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol when she was found asleep in her running vehicle by Braintree Police officers.

Early Saturday morning, July 27, Fay S. Verkade, 30, was found asleep behind the wheel with the engine running and the transmission in drive, according to a release from Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins.

Officers Brianna Mahoney and James Peters found Verkade, placed the car in park and woke her. The officers observed signs of intoxication, including failure to maintain her balance and inability to perform any sobriety tests.
