A 22-year-old woman from Brooklyn, NY was arrested last week after she allegedly used counterfeit travelers checks to make purchases at Target and Best Buy.
Teyanna M. Harris was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Best Buy while trying to buy three cameras with the checks, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.
Police found 12 counterfeit $100 American Express Travelers Checks on her and charged Harris with possession of the counterfeit travelers checks, forgery, passing a forged document and larceny of the cameras.

Then, on Friday, Officer Matthew Heslam investigated a report about the same kind of checks being used at Target earlier in the week. Surveillance footage identified Harris as the purchaser – she was wearing a "distinctive" scarf – as did her signatures on the checks, Jenkins said.
Heslam is seeking a warrant charging Harris with multiple charges of larceny over $250, passing a forged document and possession of counterfeit travelers checks.
