Braintree Police Arrest Alleged Armed Burglar

The following is an excerpt from the Braintree Police Department's log: 


Wednesday, Feb. 19

  • At 7:32 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Franklin Street.
  • At 1:08 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Grove Street.
  • At 1:12 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Rockdale Street. Joao F. Vicente, 24, of 2 Humphrey Place, Roxbury, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, larceny, prostitution and threatening to commit a crime.
  • At 1:28 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on Granite Street.
  • At 2:50 p.m., police responded to a reported shoplifting incident on Granite Street. Chante D. Carney, 30, of Crescent Street, Newton, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property valued above $250, receiving stolen property valued below $250 and shoplifting merchandise by concealment, third offense. Shaunte Keshell Johniken, 32, of  3 Sonoma St., Dorchester, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property valued above $250, receiving stolen property valued below $250 and two counts of shoplifting merchandise by concealment, third offense.
  • At 2:56 p.m., police responded to an accident on Liberty Street.
  • At 3:32 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on Granite Street. Johanna A. Brown, 19, of 1 Washington St., Dorchester, was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250. Stacy L. Hunter, 17, of 1 Blue Hill Ave., Dorchester, was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250. Jennifer S. Rodrigues, 29, of 2 West Cottage St., Dorchester, was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250.
  • At 4:22 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on Granite Street.
  • At 5:51 p.m., police responded to a past assault on Granite Street.
  • At 6:07 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Granite Street.
  • At 6:28 p.m., police responded to a reported drug law violation on Union Street.
  • At 9:42 p.m., police responded to a reported larceny on Poplar Road. Samuel A. Gerry, 19, of 19 Poplar Road, Quincy, was arrested on charges of armed burglary and larceny over $250.
  • At 10:54 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Granite Street.

Thursday, Feb. 20:

  • At 12:57 a.m., police responded to a medical emergency on Union Street.
  • At 2:15 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Washington Street.
