Braintree Police Investigating House Break-ins

Two housebreaks occurred on Liberty Street and Kensington Street.

The Braintree Police Department is investigating a pair of home breaking and entering incidents that occurred in town recently. While the incidents are not necessarily related, Braintree Police are encouraging residents to report suspicious activity.

“Be a good neighbor and look out for those around you,” said Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins.

The first incident occurred in the 400 block of Liberty Street on Saturday, July 20, while the second happened in the 100 block of Kensington Street on Wednesday, July 24.

The Liberty Street break-in took place between 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. The backdoor of the home appeared to be kicked in and jewelry was taken.

"A neighbor later reported a suspicious individual around 2:30 p.m. ringing the doorbell at the victim’s home and another home, but thought nothing of it," according to Jenkins.

The Kensington Street incident also happened in the afternoon, between 1:20 and 5:15 p.m. Entry was made through a small window in the front of the house. Two flat screen televisions were taken, and it appears the theif exited through the garage, which was left open.

Later, a neighbor reported a newer, sporty, red car, possibly a Honda, was parked in front of the victims home and in the driveway. A man was seen at the front door, but according to Jenkins, did not match the description of the Liberty Street suspect.
