Braintree National Guard Armory Hosting MBTA Police Academy

It is the 32nd MBTA Transit Police Academy.

A 27-week MBTA Transit Police Academy began Tuesday at the National Guard Armory on Union Street, hosting more than 40 men and women, including four new Braintree police recruits.

The Braintree Army National Guard and the Town of Braintree are hosting the academy, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement released through the Braintree Police Department's Twitter page Wednesday morning.

Jenkins said that as part of their training, recruits will be running throughout Braintree every morning and calling cadence and shouting to build "teamwork and esprit de corps."

"I know that this will be seen as an inconvenience to some, but I ask for your patience and understanding," Jenkins said. "These young men and women will be serving in communities throughout the Commonwealth and the training they receive here in Braintree will carry with them throughout their careers."
