Braintree Man Faces Charges After Crashing into 10-Wheeler

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 26-year-old Braintree man faces various charges, including operating to endanger, after crossing the center line on Grove Street and crashing into a 10-wheel truck, causing a multiple-car accident and forcing the road to close Monday afternoon.

The man's name was not released because he has yet to be charged, but police are seeking to also charge him with operating an uninsured and unregistered vehicle, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Three vehicles were towed from the scene and a portion of Grove Street was closed after the 10-wheel truck careened into a 2006 Saab 97 operated by a 36-year-old Milton woman and came to rest against roofline of the Grove Street Dunkin Donuts.

"Based on their investigation, officers determined that the Braintree man was traveling south on Grove Street and crossed the center line into the path of the ten wheeler, traveling north and being operated by a forty year old Dorchester man," Jenkins said.

The building suffered minor structural damage. No one inside Dunkin Donuts was hurt but the three drivers were transferred to South Shore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
