The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Braintree police are investigating an accident that sent a 40-year-old Quincy man to the hospital Sunday.

The man, whose name was not released, was alone in his Nissan Altima and no other people were involved in the accident, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. He had to be extricated from his car by the Braintree Fire Department and was in "critical, but stable" condition on Tuesday afternoon.

His vehicle left the road at the 600 block of Commercial Street and struck a tree and parked pickup truck, coming to rest on the front lawn of a home, Jenkins said. He was first brought to South Shore Hospital and then transported to Brigham and Women's in Boston.
