Boston Police: Braintree Man Tries to Get Away from Steel Heist in U-Haul

Crime news from the Boston Police Department.

The following is from the Boston Police Department via bpdnews.com.

"At about 8:55am, on Saturday, February 16, 2013, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a call for two males in a U-Haul truck stealing metal out of the Marina Yard.

On arrival, officers spoke to a witness who stated that two individuals driving a U-Haul truck broke into the work yard (belonging to White Marine Inc) and starting stealing what was described as custom galvanized steel. A search of the yard for the suspects proved unsuccessful. Officers spoke to an employee of the yard who stated that approximately five thousand dollars worth of steel had been stolen. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects and the suspect’s get-away car (a U-Haul truck) over the police radio to officers from Boston and surrounding jurisdictions.

"In short time, officers learned that officers from the Chelsea Police Department had stopped a U-Haul truck, matching the description of the one used by the suspects, on Marginal Street in Chelsea. Once on scene, a check of the truck’s cargo bay enabled Boston officers to locate the stolen galvanized steel and confirm that the truck stopped was – in fact – the same one used during the larceny.

"Officers arrested Bryan Narbonne, 27, of Braintree and Brandon Ferris, 27, of Boston and charged both with Larceny (Over $250.00), Breaking & Entering a Non-Residence (Daytime) and the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property."
