Alleged Shoplifters Conceal Merchandise at Target in Car Seat Box

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two people from Whitman were arrested by Braintree police on Monday after they allegedly put more than $1,500 worth of merchandise at Target in a car seat box, paid for the car seat and left.

Loss prevention at the South Shore Plaza alerted police to the rouse, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. Tracey A. Cobb, 29, and Derek Landry, 27,  were charged with larceny over $250.

Police saw Cobb and Landry remove the car seat from the box on security footage. They then allegedly placed DVDs video games and clothing into the box. The car seat that had been paid for was located and returned to them, Jenkins said.
