Alleged Shoplifter Tries Theft by Wearing Shirts, Boots at South Shore Plaza

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 23-year-old Dorchester man was arrested by Braintree police last Thursday afternoon for allegedly trying to steal more than $250 worth of clothes at Sears by putting the merchandise on.

Loss prevention at the South Shore Plaza told police that they saw Victor Barbosa take clothing into the dressing room and conceal three Polo shirts on his person, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement. Barbosa then allegedly tried on a pair of boots, removed the security tag and walked to the exit.

The shirts, boots and a pair of pajama pants were discovered on Barbosa when he was detained, Jenkins said. He had several outstanding arrest warrants for
larceny related offenses and was also charged with larceny over $250.
