2 Busted in Braintree for New Year's Eve OUIs

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Braintree police charged two drivers with drunken driving post-midnight on New Year's Eve, after crashing their vehicles in separate accidents.

Another driver, a Braintree man, was charged with operating to endanger after allegedly trying to elude police after speeding early on New Year's Day.

Shortly after midnight on Jan. 1, a 25-year-old Boston man was arrested after crashing into two parked cars on Shaw Street, Police Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

"Responding officers determined that [Jose M.] Roberts-Toler was traveling south on Shaw Street and crossed over the centerline and into a pickup truck and passenger car parked on the opposite side of the road," Jenkins said.

"After making observations of Roberts-Toler, officers placed him under arrest and charged him with operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to keep within marked lanes. Roberts-Toler was not injured and the other vehicles were unoccupied."

Then, just after 3 a.m. on New Year's Day, police arrested Trista M. Pierce, 21 of Pembroke, after officers determined that her vehicle had struck a parked car and parked delivery truck on Independence Avenue.

Pierce was not injured, Jenkins said. She was charged with operating under the influence.

Shortly before that arrest, police spotted David Plathe, 33 of Braintree, allegedly speeding down Quincy Avenue.

"Sergeant Phillip Yee attempted to catch up to Plathe, but he drove down a series of side roads off Quincy Avenue in what appeared to be an effort to elude the sergeant and ultimately drove into his driveway," Jenkins said.

"Plathe was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with operating to endanger and speeding."
