10lbs of Marijuana Shipped to Braintree Apartment Complex

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Braintree police arrested two local men after they allegedly shipped 10 pounds of marijuana from California to an apartment complex in Braintree.

Braintree detectives, U.S. Postal inspectors and state police staked out the Matthews Circle management office last Friday, Nov. 15 after the package showed up, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Shawn M. Hillegass, 33 of Braintree, picked up the package, put it in his trunk Friday and drove off, Jenkins said. He was followed closely by Michael Topper, 29 of West Bridgewater.

Both men were stopped, the marijuana was seized and police found $1,765 in Topper's pants pocket. They were both charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act.
