William Hughes, Braintree Cop for 32 Years, Dies at 69

Hughes lived in Sanbornville, N.H. at the time of his death.

The following is the obituary for William Hughes, who served on the Braintree Police Department for 32 years:

William C. Hughes, age 69, of Brackett Road in Sanbornville, died April 7, 2014, peacefully at home.

Born November 29, 1944 in Somerville, MA, son of William and Mildred (Dean) Hughes, he had resided in Sanbornville, NH since 1985, having previously resided in Braintree, MA for many years.

Retired from the Town of Braintree, MA, he served as a Police Officer and Detective for 32 years.

Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of Scottish Rites Bodies and a Shriner. He was also active with the Bearded Wonders of Wakefield, NH, a charity for Hospice.

Survived by his wife: Lorrie L. (Boucher) Hughes, 4 children: William “Paul” Hughes, Lori and husband Richard Lindemann, Andrew Hughes and Ryan Hughes, 2 grandchildren: Jacob Hughes and Sarah Lindemann, 3 sisters: Judy and husband Bud Dakin, Linda Buttimer, Robyn and husband Bobby Gargan, a brother in law: John Boucher, a sister in law: Barbara Woodman, also many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother in law: Pete Buttermer.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 2:00pm at First Congregational Church of Wakefield, NH with Rev. Mary James, pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to: Central NH VNA & Hospice c/o Bearded Wonders, PO Box 1620, Wolfeboro, NH 03894. Cremation arrangements by Peaslee Funeral Home.
