OBITUARY: Walter Henry Introne, WWII Veteran

Here is the obituary for Walter Henry Introne, of Braintree.

a.k.a. “Wuzzy,” 95 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Canton.

He was born in Boston and received his education at Boston English High School and the Dorchester High School for Boys.  He was a WWII Navy veteran and had served on the submarine chaser P600 where he was in charge of the engine room. He was known as the “Kid from Saipan”.

Walter successfully operated a vessel with a number of Japanese prisoners aboard. He was the owner with his late brothers Arthur and Robert Introne of the Shawmut Motor Mart which was a Chrysler and Plymouth dealership at Codman Square, Dorchester.  

He was a member of the Chrysler Dealer’s of America. He retired in 1981. In earlier years, he played semi-pro baseball and football at Field’s Corner, Dorchester. He was an avid Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots fan.

Walter was the beloved husband of the late Pauline May (Moran) Introne to whom he had been married for sixty two years at the time of her death in 2006. He was the beloved father of Walter H. Introne Jr. of Hull and Dolores (Introne) AuCoin married to William J. AuCoin of Hanson. He was the loving grandfather of Jennifer Lee Introne of Gainesville, MO and Edward Alec AuCoin of Bridgewater. He was the great grandfather of Kaleigh Shannon Freeman and Cheyenne Summer Marie Cowden both of Missouri.

Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Friday February 7th from 4-7pm.  A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30am. The Reverend Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, Pastor of the First Congregational Church in Milton will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
