Former Braintree Town Admin. Dies at 68

Sweeney was involved in Braintree sports and politics, and had a long career as an attorney.

William P. Sweeney II, 68, of Braintree, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 26, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was proud to say he was born and raised in South Boston and was quick to share his many interesting stories from growing up there. He attended Boston Latin School and Stonehill College where he earned his B.S. in Accounting in 1971.

Bill’s family was most important to him. In 1971, he moved to Braintree with his wife, Peg, to raise their six children. In order to spend more time with his family, he opened a small business in South Braintree Square.

An active member of his community, Bill served as Town Meeting Member, Trust Fund Commissioner, and Town Auditor. Due to his knowledge of town government, his ability to solve problems and his love of the town, he was appointed Braintree Town Administrator.

In 2002, Bill opened a criminal and family law practice with his law partner, Charity Nedelman, and both worked Of Counsel at Baker, Braverman & Barbadoro, P.C.
