Map: Do Veterans Live in More Impoverished Parts of Town?

With Veterans Day approaching, Patch is looking at the lives of veterans across town. The map above shows a snapshot of the percentage of families living below the poverty line and the percentage of veterans there.

Map: Do Veterans Live in High-Earning Areas?

Nationally, veterans appeared to be faring better than most civilians during the recovery - at least in earnings. The median income for male veterans was at $35,725 and at $30,540 for female veterans. Compare that to civilian males and females which were $30,822 and $20,634 respectively.

Map: Where Do the Most People from Out of State Live?

Nationally, the rate of people moving to another state increasedto 12.0 percent in 2012 from a record low of 11.6 percent in 2011. Those numbers might go up as a recent survey shows one in three Americans are willing to move, hoping of find a better job market or a lower cost of living than where they are now.

Map: What Part of Town Has the Biggest Homeowning Families?

Locally, neighborhoods are sometimes dominated by one generation of families. The blocks that were full of five-person homes a decade ago may be full of empty nesters today, or vice-versa.
