Braintree Tree Lighting This Week

Catch the annual tree lighting and a special appearance in Braintree by Santa Claus.

Mayor Joseph Sullivan is inviting residents of all ages to join him for the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony held at Braintree Town Hall Thursday, Dec. 5.

Residents are invited to come to the Cahill auditorium at 4 p.m. for hot chocolate and Christmas carols. The hot chocolate is being provided this year by the Quincy Credit Union. At 4:45 p.m., guests will be invited outside to witness to lights on the Christmas tree being switched on for the first time this season.

Sullivan said that there is the possibility of an appearance by a special guest.

“Despite the fact that December is his busiest time of year, we have been informed that Santa Claus may just join us and help light our tree," the mayor said.
