Online Campaign Raising Money for Family Whose House Caught Fire

The Braintree family lost their home to a fire Monday morning.

More than $5,500 in donations have been made so far to the Ford family of Braintree, who lost their Pearl Street home Monday morning to a two-alarm fire.

A fundraising webpage at Giveforward.com has been set up to accept donations. Eighty donations so far have added up to $5,540, as of Monday night.

The home, owned by John and Peg Ford, caught fire just after midnight Monday morning and sustained $300,000 in damages to the structure and property.

Neither the homeowners nor their daughter were injured in the blaze, though they were forced to stay with family because their home was left uninhabitable. A firefighter suffered minor injures.

"The Ford family is one of the most generous and loving families in Braintree," according to a description on the fundraiser page.

"Mr. Ford (John) is a hardworking "jack of all trades" and he has always gone above and beyond to provide for is family. Mrs. Ford (Peggy), originally trained as a phlebotomist, has recently become a licensed nurse and is as wonderful a mother, as she is a nurse."

The Brew House on Granite Street in Braintree is also accepting donations for the family through Thursday morning.
