Council Honors Boys Who Returned Wallet with $1,600

The Braintree students, in grades six and seven, quickly told their parents after they found the wallet last month.

The Braintree Town Council presented certificates of commendation to three boys who last month found a wallet belonging to an elderly Boston woman filled with $1,600 and turned it in.

Michael Fahey and Brian and Justin Maccarone were honored Tuesday night for their good deed, which prompted recognition from the mayor and others last week and a flood of news coverage.

Mayor Joseph Sullivan proclaimed Wednesday, Nov. 13, a day in honor of the boys and said that Dave & Buster's has provided them each with $25 gift certificates. They were also honored last week at South Middle School by Sullivan, South Principal Ed McDonough, Police Chief Russell Jenkins and Superintendent Dr. Maureen Murray.
