Blood Drive Honors Braintree Rehab Pathologist Who Passed of Leukemia

Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital is a licensed 168-bed acute facility located on Pond Street.

Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting a blood drive Wednesday in honor of a former employee who passed away of leukemia in August 2001.

The 12th Annual Cindy Gabriel Memorial Blood Drive is from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the hospital on Pond Street. 

For 17 years, Cindy served as the Clinical Advisor for the Speech-Language Pathology Department and a speech therapist at Braintree Hospital, according to a press release from the hospital. 

"She was diagnosed with leukemia in August of 2001 and fought a tough battle, which she lost just a few months later.

"Before Cindy passed away, Brigham and Women’s Hospital held a blood drive in her name at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital. The blood drive takes place each year to honor Cindy and those who are facing their own battles with cancer."

BRH is a licensed 168-bed acute facility located in Braintree, and includes a 21-bed satellite hospital at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick and multiple outpatient clinics.
