The Massachusetts Iraq and Afghanistan Fallen Heroes Memorial Fund (MIAFHM Fund) was established in 2010 by local Military Members, decorated Combat Veterans, Wounded Warriors, Gold Star Families, Boston Firefighters, Police Officers and Veteran's Advocates.
This all-volunteer group is dedicated to honoring the sons and daughters of Massachusetts who served in Iraq and Afghanistan since Sept. 11, 2001, and gave their lives in service to our nation.
"We are honored to be the designated official nonprofit entity charged with fundraising for the Memorial by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts," states the press release.

One of the nonprofit's fundraising initiatives is a monthly “Sample Sale” at which it sells new merchandise (clothing, home goods, and furniture) that has been donated by three major Massachusetts retailers.
The products are sold at roughly 75 to 90 percent off the retail price, with all proceeds benefiting the fund.
