A storm passing through the area Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning could leave 2-4 inches of snow in Braintree by rush hour on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A Winter Storm Watch issued Sunday afternoon for much of eastern Massachusetts predicts snow starting late Monday night and continuing into Tuesday morning, with temperatures just below 20 degrees.
The chance of precipitation in Braintree is 70 percent, according to the NWS. Snow will likely slow by 2 p.m. Tuesday. Wind gusts could reach 28 miles per hour.
The advisory warns:
"POOR VISIBILITY AND SLIPPERY TRAVEL ON UNTREATED SURFACES POSSIBLE FOR THE MONDAY EVENING...AND ESPECIALLY TUESDAY MORNING...COMMUTES. STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY ON THE TRACK OF THIS LOW PRESSURE. A TRACK CLOSER TO THE COAST WOULD YIELD MORE SNOW. WHILE A TRACK FARTHER OFFSHORE WOULD RESULT IN LESS SNOW...ESPECIALLY INLAND."
