IT Team Working on Braintree Website, Phone Outage

The town's IT systems started having problems in the morning on Wednesday.

Sometime late Wednesday morning a fiber optic line near the Dorchester/Quincy border was damaged, resulting in Internet and phone problems for the Town of Braintree.

IT support is currently working on the issue, which has affected the town's website (www.braintreema.gov) as well as BELD's (www.beld.com) and some of its phone communications. Internet for BELD customers has also been affected.

Mayoral Aide Christopher Griffin said on Wednesday afternoon that the tech team is working as hard as it can to get the Internet and phones back up and running. He could not provide a definite timeline. Any emails sent to town addresses will reach their destination once the system returns online, Griffin added.
