Richard Nixon was born on this day in 1913. An excellent summary of his life from a NY Times obit in 1994: "His career, driven by such tenacity, was a tumultuous roller-coaster ride of victory, crisis, defeat, revival, triumph, ruin and, in later life, re-emergence as an elder statesman of the world who traveled widely, wrote copiously and offered advice freely. 'No one,' he told an interviewer in 1990, 'had ever been so high and fallen so low.'"

1. The Braintree High School boys wrestling team is at Norwood at 7 p.m. this evening.

The girls varsity hockey team is at Needham at 8:30 p.m.

3. A year ago today, the School Committee met to approve the 2012-2013 BHS Program of Studies. On Monday night, the committee voted unanimously to accept next year's program, with minor changes, mostly surrounding AP elective offerings.

4. The Flaherty Elementary PTO meets at 7 p.m. this evening.
