5 Things: Braintree Schools Early Release Day, Teen Movie Showing

Today is the day in 1930 when 3M began marketing scotch tape, the day in 1990 when the first McDonald's opened in Moscow and the day when writer Norman Mailer (1923) and Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova (1881) were born and gunpowder conspiracist Guy Fawkes (1606) died. His life was the inspiration, in part, for the movie V for Vendetta.

1. Today is an early release day for Braintree Public Schools for staff professional development.

2. To go along with the early release, Thayer Public Library is showing a PG-13 movie for ages 13-18 at 2 p.m. in the Logan Auditorium.

3. The Braintree Rotary Club meets at 12:15 p.m. at Emerald Hall.

4. Thayer Library also hosts "Clutter Control" from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium. "Join us as Dave Downs explores the ten very common reasons that our sheds, garages and homes get filled with stuff and what to do about it."
